ASA Philadelphia Newsletter - September 2007President's Message - Robert Ardinger, ASADear Fellow Chapter Members:
Last year was a good year for our Chapter. Philadelphia Chapter ASA members are playing leading roles in our profession. Our Chapter's financial health was good and we received the 2006-07 ASA award for Best Chapter Mentor Program at this year's annual international conference in Hollywood, CA. One of the goals this year is to continue to improve our Mentoring program by having the mentors invite the candidates to attend a Chapter meeting as their guest so they can see what our organization is about and hopefully become active members. A new year lies ahead. Your ideas, recommendations, and involvement can make this a great year. There will be several important chapter matters this year that need to be addressed and worked on. These include continuing the Chapter sponsored seminars, web site development, and marketing of the Chapter and its members. We hope to produce a Chapter Directory by early 2008. Once again, we are planning an impressive speaker line-up for this year's meetings. Jay E. Fishman, FASA, Managing Director of Financial Research Associates in Bala Cynwyd will speak at the September 19th meeting. Shirley Sue Swaab, ASA, recipient of the 2007 George D. Sinclair Professionalism award will speak at the November 14th meeting. Her topic will be "A Collector's Unusual Collection". Our Chapter success depends on everyone participating. Please plan on attending the dinner meetings. Networking with your peers is one of the leading benefits of ASA membership. There are many opportunities to share in the success of the Chapter by coming out to the meetings and volunteering. We are especially looking for younger members to step forward. Call or e-mail me anytime to discuss volunteering on committees or as a mentor. I look forward to serving you this year and offer an invitation to all members and potential members to attend our dinner meetings and become involved in our Chapter. Everyone is also invited to attend our executive board meetings which are held just before the dinner meetings. I hope to see many of you at this year's meetings. Also, check out our redesigned website at http://www.asaphila.com/. Best Regards, Robert Ardinger, ASA Return to the current Newsletter or the Archive.Top |
