And that's when they're not busy preparing appraisals, serving as expert witnesses, and providing service to their communities.
John Barton, ASA: 2014 Sinclair Award Winner!
The 2014 George D. Sinclair Professionalism Award was presented to John Barton, ASA by Eric H. Hencken, ASA (far left) at the Chapter's November meeting. The Award, which was created by the Philadelphia Chapter in 2003, recognizes an individual -- not necessarily a Chapter member -- whose actions have enhanced the appraisal profession.
Mr. Barton is the President of Brandywine Valuation Consultants, LLC, a privately held valuation firm specializing in the valuation of equity, invested capital, and intangible assets for the purposes of financial reporting, estate and gift tax, and litigation support. John has been an accredited Business Valuation member since 1993 and has served on the ASA's Business Valuation Committee, International Education Committee, Board of Examiners, and has been an instructor in the Principles of Valuation courses for many years.
As a member of the nominating committee noted John Barton has devoted enormous time without compensation to the Chapter'’s benefit as well as made major contributions to the appraisal field as a whole, including globally. Congratulations to John as the 2014 recipient of the Sinclair Award!
Susan Golashovsky, ASA: 2013 Sinclair Award Winner!
The 2013 George D. Sinclair Professionalism Award was presented to Philadelphia Chapter member and ASA Region 1 Governor, Susan Golashovsky, ASA by Samuel F. Luceno, FASA (left) at the Chapter's September meeting. The Award, which was created in 2003 by the Philadelphia Chapter, recognizes an individual -- not necessarily a Chapter member -- whose actions have enhanced the appraisal profession. Ms. Golashovsky is the principal of her eponymous Doylestown, PA appraisal consultancy, which serves corporate, general public, industry and governmental clients worldwide. She is accredited in Personal Property with specialty designations in Residential Contents, Antiques & Decorative Arts, Antique Furniture, and American Folk Art. She also holds a Winterthur Museum certificate in American Material Culture and is an elected Fellow of The Society of Antiquaries of Scotland (National Museums Scotland). Known for her wide-ranging expertise, Susan is often called upon for presentations and mentoring. Before joining the Board of Governors, Ms. Golashovsky served ASA as Chair of the Ethics Committee, and is a past President of the Philadelphia Chapter. She is the immediate Vice-Chair of the Personal Property Committee. As the 2013 recipient of the Sinclair Award, Susan Golashovsky is both honored by and does honor to the award.
Charles C. Dixon ASA: 2012 Sinclair Award Winner!
The 2012 George D. Sinclair Professionalism Award was presented to Philadelphia Chapter member, Charles C. Dixon, ASA by Chapter President Jeffrey P. Fuller (right) at the Chapter's September meeting. The Award, which was created in 2003 by the Philadelphia Chapter, recognizes an individual -- not necessarily a Chapter member -- whose actions have enhanced the appraisal profession. President of the Havertown, PA firm of CD Valuation Service, Inc., Charles appraises machinery and equipment, including mechanical and marine maintenance equipment as well as industrial, commercial and retail machinery and equipment. An Instructor for ASA's Principles of Valuation 201 and 202 courses, he is also co-author of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's Right-of-Way manual. A long-time ASA member, his other affiliations include the International Right of Way Association, Equipment Appraisers Association of North America — he holds their CSA designation — Association for Corporate Growth and the Turnaround Management Association. As the 2012 recipient of the Sinclair Award, Charles C. Dixon is both honored by and does honor to the award.
Susan Golashovsky Earns Fourth Designation: Antiques and Decorative Arts

Golashovsky, ASA, a personal property appraiser who has served ASA in many capacities -- she is currently Vice-Chair of the International Personal Property Committee and Chair of the International Ethics Committee -- and has served the clients of her eponymous Doylestown, PA appraisal consultancy for over twenty years. Ms. Golashovsky, who holds a Winterthur Museum certificate in American Material Culture, appreciates the value of education, having earned accreditation in multiple specialities.
