2012 Business Valuation Seminar
2011-2012 Meeting ScheduleChapter meetings will be held on the following third Wednesdays at 6:30 pm, except for the January Breakfast meeting, which will be held at 8:00 am:
All meetings, except the November meeting, will be held at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Plymouth Meeting. The November meeting will be held at the Corinthian Yacht Club of Philadelphia in Essington, Pa 19029. The cost is $35 per meeting for members and guests, payable online (at left) or by check payable to ASA Philadelphia Chapter 35 and mailed beforehand to Executive Secretary Joanne Paciello by mail to 8 Terrace Rd, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462. New MembersThe Philadelphia Chapter welcomes new members Jed Mecham (BV), Rocco DiBruno (MTS), and Ed Welch (RP) who have been invited to attend their first dinner meeting as a guest of the Chapter. Advancements: Class of 2011Six Philadelphia Chapter Appraisers have completed the requirements for advanced accreditation. Business Valuation Appraisers, Kevin Moore, ASA of BCG Valuations in Pennington, NJ, and Nicholas Hoffmaster, ASA and Randall Raifsnider, ASA, both with ParenteBeard, Nicholas in the York, PA office and Randall in Reading, PA, can now add the ASA designation to their business stationery. Machinery & Technical Specialties Appraiser Richard Jordan, ASA of De Lage Landen Financial Services, Inc. in Exton, PA, also advanced to ASA status. Additionally, Business Valuation Appraisers, Michael Cunningham, AM of the Philadelphia firm of Hempstead & Co., Inc, and Michael Peter Ghelardi, AM at Ernst & Young in Philadelphia are now both Accredited Members of the Society. Susan Golashovsky, ASA: Chairs EthicsSusan Golashovsky, ASA, Philadelphia's peripatetic personal property appraiser, known for service to professionalism, was appointed Chair of the International Ethics Committee at the 2010 ASA International Conference in Nevada. Ms. Golashovsky also serves as Vice Chair of ASA's Personal Property Committee. June 2010 AdvancementCongratulations are in order for James H. Cassidy, III, ASA of KPMG's Philadelphia Office who has completed the requirements and earned the right to add the ASA designation to his business card. James' qualified in the Real Property/Urban specialty. Shirley S. Swaab, ASA: In MemoriamCoupling a razar sharp wit with unbridled generosity, she was a perpetual Chapter cheerleader and unselfish mentor. Philadelphia ASA Makes Grant for EducationThe Philadelphia Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) is pleased to announce renewal of its grant in support of the George F. Sinclair, FASA International Studies Fund, one of the memorial funds administered by the ASA Educational Foundation. The Sinclair Fund was established in 2006 by the Philadelphia Chapter in memory of George F. Sinclair (1925-2005), one of its most illustrious members. George, who was accredited in both Real Estate and Machinery & Equipment, served the ASA in many capacities, including as Northeast Regional Governor and as International President, often using his assignments to foster a generous commitment to education and mentoring. The Sinclair Fund provides tuition assistance to qualified international applicants, including most recently to Machinery & Technical Specialties Candidate, David Mbindyo of Kenya. Mr. Mbindyo has completed ASA Course ME201 (Introduction to Machinery and Equipment Valuation) and is continuing his professional education with support from the Sinclair Fund. The Philadelphia Chapter hopes to assist others, like Mr. Mbindyo, in the near future as part of its ongoing commitment to elevate and maintain educational standards within the appraisal profession. The Sinclair Fund provides a ready means to renew and extend the commitment rooted and nourished by George. Donations to the George F.
